Has anyone else realised how the world has gone crazy about identity. We are constantly labelled by the clothes we wear, the words we say, the actions we take, the job we have, the house we live in, the colour of our skin, our race and our religion. Well this blog is the launch of something new – a call for both Christians and non-Christians to re-identify themselves with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
You see, I wonder what we our generation of Christians in the UK will be remembered for. Will we be remembered for faithfully proclaiming the truth of the Bible with both our hearts and our minds, or will be the generation that sees the church in this country die? I fear it will be the second but I pray that it will be the first. You see we are starting to see the beginnings of a change of direction in the attitude towards the cross in this country. With the threat of new legislation in this country I fear it will not be many years before we start seeing those who faithfully proclaim the gospel being put in prison, and it will not be long before even writing a post like this will have fair-reaching consequences.
If only this persecution was only externally based. Unfortunately it is not – we now face a crisis in church leadership across the denominations in this country. We urgently need to take drastic action to see the church stay faithful to the Gospel. As the Church of England faces a schism in the next few years and other denominations face decline, we have to ask where we have gone wrong.
This blog is a desperate call to Christians all over the country and world to start sharing ideas and prayers for the church – God’s family! – all over the world. Please post your views and ideas on here and email me too.
